UK Fire v GB Police
Percy Park RFC 24th February 2010

UK Fires much changed squad got off to a poor start in this seasons encounter with GB Police. With 5 players making their UK Fire debut at very short notice, and numerous players initially selected for the squad unavailable for a number of reasons, it was always going to be a hard game against tough against our old foes.

The 1st points of the day came from the police winger when they scored a well worked try after 10 minutes. UK Fire battled back from this, gaining more territory in the difficult conditions.

GB Police then began to take control of the game, using the width of the pitch to their advantage stretching the UK Fire defence. This resulted in a number of tries in quick succession as the visitors took a convincing lead. UK Fire managed to hold out for the rest of the half. The second half was played with great spirit and with dogged determination as Fire struggled to breach the Police defence on a number of occasions. UK Fires points came the way of three penalties.

UK Fire battled hard and showed their grit but it was not enough against an impressive Police side, who then scored their last try of the game to make the final score 38-9 to the visitors.

UK Fire will be looking to bounce back from this defeat with wins away to both the French and Italian Fire Services in the European Firefighters Tri Nations, in Italy, June 15-19.
